Do you ever find yourself hoping and thinking that someone else will come and figure out your life? Do you find yourself looking outside of yourself for happiness?
After many years of being on my own journey, I realized that I was the only one who could save myself from living an unfulfilling life. The truth of this statement hit like a ton of bricks while I was listening to one of Davidji’s meditations. After he spoke the last line, “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for,” I spontaneously burst into tears. It was both liberating and terrifying. No one else can create happiness for any of us, although others can add to it, we are the only ones who can ever be responsible for our happiness.
When I saw the title of Kute Blackson’s book, You.Are.The.One, it had that same resonance for me. And once I saw the trailer for this book, and felt the power of his message, I knew I needed to interview him. In our conversation we took a deep dive into his life and how his beliefs developed. Kute’s background is unique as he was born in Ghana, the son of a Japanese woman and Ghanaian man, was an ordained minister at his father’s church and moved to Los Angeles on his own in 1995. In this episode, we dive deep into Kute’s history and dish about his book, which teaches us how we are the only ones who can ever be responsible for our happiness. Listen now to hear more about Kute’s story, his philosophy, and his new book, and learn how powerful you truly are.
