“A lot of a doula’s work is helping people to soften so that they can ask for and receive help.” – Latham Thomas

Today I’m excited to share a chat with my friend Latham Thomas, who is a celebrity wellness and lifestyle guru, doula, and educator. She explains the role a doula can play in a client’s childbirth village. We also discuss the Black maternal health crisis, and Latham shares how she became a doula herself and later launched her doula training program so that more parents could experience childbirth the way she did.

  • 02:53 How Latham founded maternity brand Mama Glow out of a desire to protect the childbirth experience she had herself
  • 08:50 The role of a doula
  • 14:10 How hiring a doula can be an act of self-love
  • 18:09 How Latham launched her doula training program and innovated in response to the pandemic
  • 25:37 The Black maternal health crisis and actions you can take to help
  • 35:12 Latham’s most challenging boundary struggle
