Hello My Cupids!

This week I’m continuing the L*O*V*E conversation. Last week we explored Self-Love, and this week I want to take it one step further with Igniting YOUR Heart’s Passion. On Valentine’s Day, we tend to think of hot, sexy, romantic passion with our lover. Not bad to think about or act upon! But let’s think about passion in terms of what lights up your heart and makes you feel complete regardless of your relationship status.

In order to ignite your heart’s passion, you have to remember what it is you are passionate about. This often gets lost in parenthood. If you are a parent, like me, your children’s needs, wants, desires, and wellbeing take center stage, and your passions tend to slip away. Your heart’s desire gets buried under the obligations that go with the job of child rearing. The same issue is very common in careers. (I am guilty of getting lost in both parenting and a big career and letting my desires fall by the wayside when my boys were younger).

I am not suggesting you neglect your children or your career, but rediscover what fulfills you. When you carve out some time to take care of yourself, you will find yourself better equipped to take care of others because you have had a chance to recharge your batteries and fill your tank back up.

It is common to not know anymore what your heart’s desire is. To help, answer the following questions:

  1. What do you love to do in your spare time but do not do?
  2. What magazines and books do you love to read?
  3. What would you do for free?
  4. What are you doing when time flies? (in a good way 🙂 )

Make a plan to implement some of these activities and interests into your schedule. Get a magazine subscription, a library card, a Kindle, whatever… and schedule some time at least every couple days to read. You can literally schedule specific days and hours on your calendar to ensure you allot the time. Making it as important as any other appointment helps with success.

I would love to hear your thoughts about adding these things back into your life, what you plan to do, and how you plan on doing them. Stoke the embers of your own passion!

I hope you have an amazingly lit up week filled with passion and your heart’s desire!

Love Love Love
