Today marks the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, and there will be a plethora of opportunities to pay your respects to our universal mother. Small changes in your daily life add up to a big difference in how well we support the health of the earth.
If you already live eco-mindedly, then thank you!
Would like to create a more eco friendly life style without breaking the bank or moving into a yurt?
Here are a few quick and easy ideas:
Move Your Tush
Walk instead of driving whenever possible. Good for the earth-good for you glutes.
Show Your Green Thumb
Plant a small rooftop garden or in-home herb garden. You will be creating organic edibles and reducing your carbon imprint.
Conscious Caffination
Brew “certified” coffee. A USDA Certified Organic label means it was grown using sustainable standards. If you are not brewing at home take a travel cup and they may even give you a discount!
Stop the Insanity
Stop contributing to the plastic bag insanity by bringing your own eco friendly bags shopping. Many stores will reward your efforts with a discount for not using their nasty landfill bags.
Real Turn Off
Use an UL-certified power strip for your electronics and turn the whole strip off at night to prevent wasting energy from phantom electrical draw.
So in honor of our earth mother please share your great eco friendly ideas and any awesome Earth Day activities you may have on your weekend schedule!
No matter what you do, you cant be perfect… If you were to chose an organization for carbon-footprint offset options, who would you recommend, and why?

Terri
Today I connected with nature noticing the colors and the way she moves in the wind, unpredictable gorgeous delicate and violent containing all possibility and yet there is some predictability to it ways to tune into her next move but in the end she is free I felt so one with her and grateful. I want to step up my healthy habits to earth game, perhaps compost and use only natural cleaning products and makeup?
That is beautiful christine! Yes nature is Fearless and Free just like us! There was just a great list on http://www.goop.com full list of natural face products! Josie Bissett sent it to me and I am bustin’ out my plastic to do some damage!
Farm sanctuary would be one, since they opposed factory farming and all the associated methane (a greenhouse gas) byproducts
Yes Codula I hear that! Kris Carr from http://www.crazysexylife.com just has a great blog about just this topic here is the link 🙂
